Hey Everyone! Hope you are enjoying these beautiful trees this fall. If anyone in the Indianapolis area is interested in a getting a pet. I am the proud foster parent for a litter of cats. I for sure have a calico kitten and a calico mother cat that still need a home. I may have two other kittens also (orange and dark gray). E-mail me if you are interested. Thanks and have a great weekend. :)

I, of course, wrote to you all last night without even checking my calendar. My memory is not what it used to be, although some say it's my beauty that lingers. CHAMP Camp 2004 will be June 19-25th. Please mark your calendars! Sneakers Ball is Saturday, April 17th. Hope to see you both places. Love, Nancy

Hello Campers and Counselors! Thanks to all of you who have returned your evaluations from this past summer's extraordinary camp! We are reading them carefully, and it appears that Dave and I will be making some decisions regarding the length of time for Counselor Orientation. For those of you who haven't heard...CHAMP Camp 2004 will be June 21-27 at Recreation Unlimited in Ashley, Ohio. There are rumors of us moving to a different facility, but we have once again committed to using this fine site. Tomorrow we welcome a new part-time employee, Jennifer Adams, who will be camp's Development Director. She is an outstanding individual who will focus on writing grants and finding corporate donors to fund our ever-growing programs. Once again, our thanks to tom mcCain, who continues to make changes and updates with our website and with graphics for our printed materials. Darrell Gossett put on one heck of a charity golf tournament again this past Septmeber, and CHAMP Camp is grateful for the tremendous, generous support of ERMCO, Inc. Keep the spirit of camp in heart as the season changes...summer WILL come again! Til then....Your friend, Nancy

I had a great week at camp. I just returned from a camp in Wisconsin for campers who use augmentative communication. It was different from Champ Camp but just as great!
I have a problem. I lost a battery charger at Champ Camp in the girls dorm. If any one found it, please contact me asap via e-mail. If I don't locate it by Friday, I will have to pay for a complete TENS unit that costs $160.00. (RU says they have not found it.) It was very small - just large enough to fit a 9 volt battery in to plug into the wall.
Thanks for an awesome week at camp! Sharon

Wow! I can't believe that CHAMP Camp '03 has already come & gone. I feel like I somehow missed it!:( Yes, I was there but @ times I was just taking up time & space. The chaos that has been my life for the past year interfered with my camp experience. I couldn't fully turn off/ tune out my outside life. I wasn't able to fully engage in the moment @ all times. I try not to have regrets because life is just TOO short. But I do regret not being fully present & engagedin camp @ all times. Those "missed" moments can never be recaptured. Time is irreplaceable.Thankfully, my fellow counselors were present & awesome always! You guys are the best. The embodiment of teamwork! I'm continually awed at the spirit of camp. No where else am I so impressed by people. The campers who rise to the challenge - on so many levels. The counselors who give so freely of themselves. There is never any "handicap" of spirit at camp. Mere words are inadequate to describe the CHAMP Camp experience.Jordan,Adam, Jake, Terry, Derrick, Brenden, Andy, Dan, Joel, Nick, George, Crystal, Amanda"AC", Amanda Sue, Emily, Betsy, Ginnell & Stephanie - thanks for all you shared. Those special little moments are really what make camp! I've learned so much from you.You guys are truly awesome! I'm humbled by your strength of spirit & your talents & gifts. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! Until we meet again, wishing you all the blessings of PEACE, JOY & LOVE, Bev P.S. Adam, I'm still waiting for my love note.:) Triple"G", Next year for sure! LOTS OF PRESSURE!! Jordo, do I know all your news/surprises?

Hi to everyone I new from Champ Camp 95,96,97. Sorry it's ben so long. I was looking at my scap book of camp and decided I needed to check out the website. It was nice to see pictures of familair faces and new ones. It reminded me of how much fun and how rewarding it was to be a camp counselor. Here is a quick up date: I have finished my degree (97) as a speech pathologist and have worked in the field for 6 years. I got married in Oct. 98, had my first son, Jonah, Oct. 28, 2000 and recently my second son, Ethan, Sept. 8, 2002. I think we are done. My husband and I were discussing Champ Camp and felt maybe 2004 would be a good time for me to get re-involved. Hope everyone is well and to here from you soon, love Michelle.

What an incredible week! Hats off to ALL the campers who demonstated independence, humor, perseverance, adversity, teamwork and initiative! Your WILL to enjoy fun and friendship is unsurpassed. To the counselors who came from near and far to volunteer...man, oh man...you are the best on earth. You offered encouragement, support, medical intervention, LAUGHTER, special moments, and pure joy! What's amazing to me is to watch how in every task you undertake there is love and commitment. CHAMP Camp is a passion for those of us who share the vision that the human spirit is a powerful motivator. Dave and I couldn't...and wouldn't... be able to coordinate camp without each and every one of you. I am in awe of those of you who find your niche and then soar. THANK YOU!!!! for the effort, energy, and enthusiasm. Dave and I couldn't be more proud of the CHAMP Camp family. Next year's camp is scheduled for June 18-25th. See you then. Keep the magic and spirit close til your heart til then. Love, Nancy

Hello Everyone!! Sorry if we have not returned emails or letters, I am terrible at that stuff! Thank you for all the wonderful pictures you are sending us. Devin loves getting mail and then to see all his friends faces, he cant wait until camp this year! Neither can I!!! We are going to be guest speakers at a confrence here in NH. Its a Respiratory Conference, our topic is how the ventilator wont stop us! All those wonderful pictures that you guys took of Devin doing all the fun things will be displayed and talked about there. In fact one of the resp. therapist is going to try to be a counselor there this year, she sent away for more information! We will probably be leaving NH after I pick of Devin from camp, in fact we will fly out of Ohio into AZ hopefully if everything goes well!! But this wont keep Devin from attending camp the following year! We will fly him across the world for him to attend the camp every year until he is too old!!! But are you really ever too old? We hope all is well and have lots of pictures to hand out when we see you in June! Take care all!!!! Love Sian & Devin

Thnaks to all the people who make camp a possibility and even more thanks to the campers who share a part of their lives with us. You are all very special gifts in your own special way. Have a great year.
And I want to pass along another special message to my colleague and counterpart to camp, Nancy McCurdy, and wish her a very wonderful birthday August 7th. Nancy, you have touched so many lives with your generosity of heart, always sharing the vision and believing the dream. I am not alone in knowing what an impact you have had in the lives of so many children and families, and the many friends and acquaintances you've made in your lifetime. Thanks for being a believer, sharing our vision, being so much to so many, being a tremendous friend. Happy Birthday, love Dave

WOW - The smile is still on his face and he is checking off the days until next year on his calendar. He still wont tell me everything, since I will just embarass him like I did at camp. LOL. Thank you all for making it such an enjoyable time for him and dealing with all my worries and concerns. You made him forget all about the anniv. of his accident by keeping him so busy. We are truly blessed to have friends like you all. Please keep in touch and as soon as the pictures are back from the lab I will be sending them your way. Nancy, Katie & Crystal - If it wasnt for you I would not have made it through that week in one piece - Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving Devin this opportunity and all the memories. He did come back with an "independent" attitude, which I am not sure if I like. LOL - I think its just him growing up and mommie not letting him... See you all soon. Take care!!!

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent! none.

HELLO CHAMP Campers!!! It's been a few years...I was so happy to discover your website! I loved the photos and reading about all your news...CONGRATULATIONS to all of the high school grads!! I'm so happy for you, doesn't it feel great to have all that work done...now it's time to celebrate your achievements. I am still in the booger business up here in Ottawa, Canada...working full time at a Children's hospital. Our transport team travels up to Iqualuit (Baffin Island) to pick up newborns and pediatric patients. It's quite a trip! I even learned how to build an igloo during my training! Can you imagine? I will hopefully never have to use that skill. EEK! Since I last saw you I also spent some time in Saudi Arabia working in a hospital in Riyadh. I have now experienced temperature ranges from -50'Celsius up to +45'Celsius (Sorry, no idea in Farenheit!) I would love to hear from you guys - you know, from when I was I boy in Cabin I! I think of you often and treasure my memories and photos so much. I got teary seeing all of your pictures...yes, I am still a mushball.
TEX!! I see you have graduated to the big boys cabin, please don't tell me you are growing up!
Take Care and have a TERRIFIC Camp this summer! Love -Melissa (300-67 Cartier St. Ottawa Ontario K2P 1J6 Canada)

Hey guys! What's goin on? I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be back for one more year. I was able to squeeze it into my busy schedule. So how's everyone doing? I'm pretty good. 35 days until I done with high school. I'll be going to Duquesne University next year. I got a job as a research assistant for a judge. Not bad, huh? I'm going to Virginia Beach in May with my band to play in a parade at Busch Gardens. That's my last marching band show as Drum Captain. I'll have to bring pictures from the Prom and Homecoming to camp so you guys can see me when I really look good. I'm out. Keep in touch and see you in a couple of months. Later.

This camp is fantastic. My son Devin can't wait to go!!! I on the other hand am very nervous. I am sure all the camper's parents experienced what I am going through. Are there any words of wisdom to help me easy this? I have been putting off sending in the application, because of my fears. Which is so wrong, I know. Are there any words of wisdom that could help me out. I know once I let him do this, I know it will be easier. Thank you!

Hey! How you all doin'! This year was great! Even though this year was great, I'm not sure if I'll be back next year. Camp may be the same week as my graduation. Plus there's parties and all that stuff (you know how it is). No matter what happens I'll never forget you guys. Camp is part of my life and I would miss it. Anyway (enough of this emotional stuff) this was a good year! I want to say "How you doin'?!" to all the guys I hung out with at camp: John, Kate, Amy, Angie, Chuck, Steph. If I forgot anybody give me a break. I'm so popular I can't remember everybody I hung out with. Keep in touch. TTYL!

Hello All! Wasn't the food great? Five stars for the lasagna! I was jazzed to see all my friends again, and everything went perfect until Roni and I missed our plane home. Oh well, the time was well spent. See you all next year.

The August Adolescent Retreat will not happen as planned, due to a fewer than optimal number of volunteers needed to make the weekend safe for all campers. We had such an outstanding week in June, and we are hot to recruit for next summer, when the Adolescent Retreat will run concurrently with the week of CHAMP Camp in June. We have already begun the planning! The volunteers that come forth to make CHAMP Camp happen are incredible in number, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment. When you are a part of it, you feel so fortunate to be among others who dream big, work hard, and share the spirit of friendship and belonging. We have become a family of sorts, whose love and support is unconditional and we carry it with us always. THANK YOU to all of you, campers and counselors alike, who make CHAMP Camp one wonderful story! Stay tuned!

What another great year at camp! To all the campers guys & girls, each of you inspire each counselor to acheive more in life. It is a pleasure, joy & blessing to be associated with such great people. George said it best: at camp there are no limitations, no handicaps and no boundries. I would to say special thanks for the female staff in Boys II, for becoming boys for the week and living like boys (messy & unorganized) and hanging out as one of the guys. Terry, Dan, Greg, Adam, Brian you guys are awesome!!

Well, the memories of Champ Camp have not yet begun to fade...and the green nail polish is almost off my fingers...I don't see how you girls do it...lol...Champ Camp is the highlight of my summer...all the effort and sweat that goes into it is worth it if I only make one camper smile at one point during one day. The smiles from the campers give me the energy that I need to make it through the week. Thanks for the opportunity to serve. Blessings---Jason

Take the energy and enthusiasm of the campers; and the skill and commitment of the counselors; the diversity and challenge of the program; and the accessibility and magic of the natural environment...stir it all up and it cooks! To everyone, THANKS for the truly inspiring week. I loved the thunderstorm in the tent with Mary Jo and Meghan! Kudos to Editor Dave Powell Jenny Fogo, and the outstanding staff of the DAILY CHAMP CAMP. Julie Stanley and Janet Yeager did an awesome job with the BEADS of CHAMP Camp! Hats off to all our first time counselors...we hope that CHAMP Camp will become a tradition for you, too! CHAMP Camp has grown and changed in the eleven years since we started, and every year is another incredible personal journey. Hold the memories close to your heart til we are back together again. In the spirit of camp,

Just want to say to all Champers this was an awsome camp week!!! From Cassie's educating me on the NSYNC scene, to Meghan's hysteria to my swallowing a bug, to Katrina's patience with me in vision matters and to learning what persistence means in learning conversation techniques from Emily, arigato! I will never forget the look on Jordan's face as he reached the first platform of the Tower. He will always be an inspiration for me!! hugs, Barb

CHAMP Camp 2001 is over but the many, many memnories will live on. Tired and aching bodies get a chance to recover while the mind revisits the events of the past week, leaving smiles, tears and laughter for all that was accomplished. The CHAMP Camp family continues to grow. You all, counselors and campers alike, are very special people and the relationships built will carry on throughout the years. CHAMP Camp 2001 and each camp before and after, a time where campers can come and be "free". Thanks for the memories! See you at CHAMP Camp 2002! Dave

I had to let him know that he was unable to attend these camps with his friends because of his medical complications, meaning the vent. Now when he is of age he can have this opportunity come true.
